I am running.

So I have this friend, Rachael, who likes to run. Run marathons that is. I don't understand this concept, but I go along for the ride as an excuse to get away. Well, this time Rachael is married and my boyfriend decided to run his first marathon, so the four of us packed up the car and left for Chicago.

I've been to a few marathons before, but nothing really compared to Chicago. 45,000 people I think? You could barely go anywhere. The streets, restaurants, trains, hotels...were all packed. Pretty awesome to see that many people in one place. And of course, I have to take photos all of it.

If you travel and like to take pictures you know how annoying it is to take a purse and a bag. You almost feel like just grabbing your point and shoot, throwing it in your pocket and calling it a day. I tried it. But kicked myself immediately after b/c I couldn't get the shots I wanted. Let me introduce you to my two little travel friends...

The Lowepro slingshot. My friends at Midwest Photo Exchange carry it. There are different sizes but I have the 102. It. is. awesome. I can carry my body, a few lenses, cards, wallet, chapstick...you know the basics. If I'm gonna be out in the city all day I can even fold up a light jacket and throw it in the top. Just slings right over my shoulder and even has a waterproof cover that comes out of the bottom if it starts raining. The most used piece of gear I have. Well besides my camera that is.

Second is my spy lens. I picked this up at Photojojo. I love that place, they have the coolest camera equipment and accessories. This lens allows you to take street photos without being noticed. If you are looking straight ahead, you're actually taking a photo of the person at your side...and they usually have no idea. Kind of hard to get the hang of but a blast when you do.

Back to work, y'all.
